For the last 21 years, Will Johnson has been an active member for International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 181. Will graduated from Trinity high school in Whitesville, KY in 2001. He joined the IUOE apprenticeship program in September of 2001 and graduated in 2005. Since, Will has worked for numerous contractors in various roles.
From 2011 to 2014, Will was a foreman for Sterett Crane out of Owensboro, KY. In 2014 Will was asked by Local 181 to fill the role of Union Steward on the TVA gasification plant that would be built in Muhlenberg County, KY. This project peeked at nearly 100 Local 181 operators and lasted almost 3 years. From there he took the foreman position at TVA for GUBMK Contractors.
In 2018, Will was asked to be a Business Agent and Representative for Local 181. This same year, Will was elected as the Financial Secretary for the Owensboro Area Building & Construction Trades Council and has been working with surrounding councils for the last 4.5 years.
In 2020, Will was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Recording Corresponding Secretary of IUOE Local 181. He then ran unopposed for the same position that year and held this position until July 1, 2022 where he was installed by the Constitutional Officers of Local 181 to fulfill the unexpired term of Business Manager.
Of the positions and roles that Will serves, he will tell you that all of them are second to his family. Will has a beautiful family with his wife, Krista and their blended family of 6 kids. They are raising their family in Knottsville, KY and enjoy being a taxi service for their kids while they play softball, baseball, basketball, soccer and cheer.
