Todd Dunn was elected by acclamation as the President of UAW Local 862 in August of 2020 and retains that position today. He is in his fourth consecutive term. Currently UAW Local 862 represents approximately 17,500 active workers of the Kentucky Truck Plant (KTP) and the Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP), in addition to nine other units with 400 members within the amalgamated local union. In addition to the active units there are approximately 6000 retirees represented in the prosperous history of UAW Local 862.
Brother Dunn began his career as a Vehicle Assembly Technician in the Commercial Light Truck Department in 1995 when he joined UAW Local 862 upon starting work at Ford Motor Company’s Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky. Approximately one year after beginning his career with Ford, Brother Dunn began alternating as a District Committeeman where he was mentored until his first successful run for District Committeeman Election in 1999. He served his first term where he was well known for his dedication to the members within the Kentucky Truck Plant. His career as a Committeeman continued until 2010. Dunn has also served on the UAW Local 862 Executive Board since June 2002, when he was elected as Trustee.
In 2005, Dunn was elected Vice President of Local 862 while continuing to serve as District Committeeman. He was again re-elected as Vice President and Committeeman in 2008. A Special Election called for his services as a Bargaining Committeeman in 2006 whereas Bargainer and Vice President. He was also elected to the 34th UAW Constitutional Convention where he served as a delegate in 2006. Dunn was selected to serve the UAW Constitutional Convention on the Rules Committee in 2010, 2014 and 2018.

He also serves as Ford’s Veterans Network Group Regional Representative where he was instrumental in working with the UAW and Ford Motor Company in the development and completion of the “Hero Reward” Resource Center for veterans and first responders. Brother Dunn was also placed on the Active Heroes Board of Directors and has facilitated the development of the 147-acre retreat in the addition of the UAW/Ford welcome center and the guest services pavilion. In total, the over one and one-half a million dollars in improvements of the facility will allow our military and first responder heroes a place to visit with their families in order to reconnect and find peace of mind in this wilderness setting.
As a labor leader, he developed a passion for the UAW/Ford Motor Company’s collaborative involvement in community services early in his career where he introduced the “Make-A-Wish Foundation” partnership with UAW Local 862, onto to his efforts where he leads the joint UAW/Ford Community Services Team and Metro United Way in providing homebound citizens with wheelchair ramps until its conclusion in 2020.
Currently Dunn is working with Purple Heart 3, National Veterans Training Foundation and several other charities in continuing service to veterans and first responders in the community. These accomplishments only touch on a few organizations and community services he has supported. At the 2013 Kentucky State AFL-CIO Convention, Brother Dunn was awarded the Charles T. Clark Community Services Award.
