Meet KLMC Board Member and Treasurer, John Stovall.
John attended Morehead State University, the University of Louisville, JCC and was a collegiate football athlete. He served in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years. He worked for the Jefferson County School Board for 29 years before he became the Service Agent/Business Agent for Teamsters Local 783, representing their Members at JCPS. He served as Local 783’s Vice President from 2006-2014 while also being very active in the political scene as the Political Liaison. John became the President of Local 783 in 2014 and served until 2024. He expanded their presence throughout the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the community by serving as both a Trustee and President for Teamsters Joint Council 94. John also served on the Public Sector Division for the International Teamsters Union and served as the Recording Secretary for the Greater Louisville Central Labor Council (GLCLC). He also served as the Secretary Treasurer for the KY Labor-Management Committee and also served as a Board Member for the KY Prevent Child Abuse Association.
John just recently retired as the President of the largest Bargaining Unit (JCPS) with over 1,400 Members, where he oversaw all 30+ contracts at Local 783, represented all 4,200+ Members of Local 783 as well as 6 Officers, 2 Business Agents and 2 Clerical staff by virtue of his Officer position. He actively led or co-sponsored many fundraisers and events to support Local 783 and the community for the needy, veterans, children and so many others since taking office.
